Home Learning for Year 4

Good morning everyone!  We hope your weekend was fabulous, and that you were able to enjoy the sunshine...

As we all know, we have to "self-isolate" away from school this week.  This means that you won't be able to come to school this week, and we hope you and all the people you live with will remember to keep safe and follow all the advice we have been given.

This week, we will be looking at different ways to support your learning while you are at home.  We would like everyone to...

  • Read at home every day...read a reading book if you've got one at home with you...read books you have at home...read any comics or newspapers you might have at home...just make sure you try to read, even if it is just for 10 minutes every day!
  • Practise your times tables...5 minutes every day will help you recall your times tables facts in 5 seconds!
  • Choose work from your Year 4 Homework menu, and complete this in your homework book.
  • Work on the three daily tasks that you are given on this school website.

TODAY'S LEARNING TASKS

Maths

This week we are working on multiplication and division.  For today's activities, click on the PDF link.  Our LO for today is:

LO: To multiply 2-digits by 1-digit.

English

For today's activity, we would like you to think about the characters from our story, "The Way Back Home".  One of the main characters was the Martian.  Can you remember how we described him?  What did he look like?  What type of character was he?

Today, we would like you complete a writing activity called

"Alien Visitor", which you will find in your 2Dos on Purple Mash.

If you do not know your login for Purple Mash, please email your teacher, and we will get this for you!

When you open the 2Do, you will find a postcard.  We would like you to imagine that you are the Martian from our story, and you have come to spend a day on Earth... Where would you go?  What would you do?  Would you go to visit the little boy?  Describe your day...tell us all about what you did.  Remember to use expanded noun phrases to add detail to your descriptions.

Science

Today we would like you to show us what you know about Seed Dispersal.  You have a 2Do on Purple Mash called "Seed Dispersal".  You need to add images from the image bank, and then write about each type of seed dispersal that you can remember...can you explain each method clearly in your own words?

Good luck...and if you have any questions about the tasks, please email your teacher, either on their school email address, or even better, on their Purple Mash email through "2email".
