Dinosaurs walked the Earth a long time ago. They are all dead now but we know about them because they left something very special behind - Fossils! Fossils are the bones of a dinosaur that have been turned into rock over a long period of time.
This week we are going to turn into Palaeontologists! This is a long word for dinosaur scientists! Every good scientist does lots of experiments so let's begin with a few ways to make our own fossil!
The experiment below shows you how to create a fossil inside of 'rock'. Follow the instructions on the PowerPoint and then explore the fossil with your hands, eyes and tools.
This experiment shows you how to create a fossil on the outside of the 'rock'. Take a look at the prompt card to encourage your child to think about what they are doing.
