Phonics week 3 matching sight words

Mrs Smith and Rabbit play a sight word game.

Phonics Linked Activity

Play the sight word matching game at home!

Sight words are words that we need to recognise rather than sound out, either because they appear so often in books or because we cannot use the phonetic sounds in them to make them sound right. That is why they are also called high frequency words or irregular words.

Print out a few sets of the sight words below. You will need them over the next few weeks. Cut the sight words out and give three to the animal toys you have in your house. Now mix another set of sight words up in a pile (or you can get a special sight word box) and see if you can match the sight words with the ones your animal has. Just like on the video!
