This week in phonics we will be looking at rhyming. Rhyming is quite difficult for nursery age children to grasp and so the more rhymes they hear the better they will get at understanding how rhyming works.

Go through this PowerPoint together with your child.

Have a go at these other rhyming activities:

  • read a rhyming story

  • sing a nursery rhyme

  • make some puppets to act out your child's favourite rhyme

  • make up some silly nonsense rhymes with your child, such as "mummy, tummy" "daddy, laddy" etc.
