This week in our History unit (Vikings and Anglo-Saxons) we have been looking at Viking poems. Daniyal read the poem through and then took his time to carefully re-order the poem so it made more sense. He numbered each verse so the order was very clear to others reading it. Well done, Daniyal!
This week in Science, we learnt about Day and Night! It was fun to apply all of our growing knowledge about Earth, the Sun and the Moon to understand why we have day and night. We questioned why in some parts of the world it was daytime, whilst in the U.K. it was night. In order to improve our understanding, we conducted our own research to create an information leaflet about this very subject! Amarpreet, from 5L, worked hard to research and inform others about what she had learnt. Fabulous work, Amarpreet!
This week in Science, we have been exploring our solar system. At first, we looked back at historical theories which explored whether the earth was round or flat. We found this rather funny, as we now know that the earth is round! Later in the week, we identified the planets within our solar system. We identified their physical differences, as well as their order! Yug created a helpful poster, aimed to inform others about the different planets within our solar system. He used his researching skills to include quality, accurate information to inform his audience. Well done, Yug and Daniyal. Your Year 5 teachers are very proud!
