World Book Week - Day 3

Books that make you LOL! - LIVE EVENT at 10:30 am TODAY!

Today we would like you to watch the  special "World Book Week" live event by following the link below.  It is presented by Kenny Baraka, and it's all about stories, poems and jokes that are designed to make people laugh out loud. It starts at 10:30 am and lasts approximately 30 minutes.

We would also like you to make your own joke-chatterbox, where you can write the beginning of the joke on the outside, and write the punch-lines inside the chatterbox, so you have to lift up the flap to find the punch-line. There's a short video to help you make your chatterbox, and a sheet you can print out with lines and folding instructions if you would like to use it to help you.

World Book Week Day 1

Story Detectives

For today's World Book Week activity, we would like you to watch this video by the author Alex T. Smith.  In the video, he talks all about his books, and how he develops his ideas.  He shows you how to be a story detective, and we would like you to make a poster to explain how to be a super story detective.  Use text and pictures, make it super-colourful and eye-catching, and make sure you explain the things Alex tells us we need to do, to become a story detective.

Antonyms and synonyms

For today's English work, we would like you to follow the link below to the BBC Bitesize site, and go through the activities which are all about antonyms and synonyms.  We already know about synonyms for the word "said", as we have discussed this previously this week in our dialogue work...but what are antonyms?

By working through these activities, you will have a chance to find out exactly what antonyms and synonyms are, and you will be able to have a go at using them, so that you will know how they can improve your writing in the future.  We hope you enjoy these activities...good luck!
