Welcome to Class 4B!

In our first week of school, we created our own class charter. We agreed as a class on what to include to ensure the classroom is a happy, friendly place.

You need your PE kit on a Thursday and Friday.

As part of our History topic we designed and made our own Roman Shields.

World Book Day 2019

On Thursday 7th March 2019, we celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite book characters. We also shared many stories with each other from our favourite books. See for yourself!

As part of our Ancient Egyptian topic this term, we have been interested in the process of mummification.

The Ancient Egyptians believed that after they died there was an afterlife so they needed to preserve their bodies after death.

We used tomatoes to represent the process of mummification. We made a small incision in the tomato and carefully scooped out the insides. This represented taking out the insides of a body. We then dried the tomatoes and filled them with Natron. This is what the Ancient Egyptians used to dry out the bodies. We made this using salt and bicarbonate of soda.

Finally, we left the mummified tomatoes in a dry place to check on in two weeks. We also kept an un-mummified tomato so we can compare the results.
