Here is a little bit of timetable information:
PE is Wednesday and Thursday is swimming - please ensure you bring PE kit for these days.
3ZS have an hours lunch at 11:30am and another 15 minute break at 2pm.
Please find our Year 3 curriculum map below!
You will also find information about things we have been learning as well as homework and useful website links here.
Do feel free to book in to see me after school if you have any concerns.
We are already heading into our final term before the children move up to Year 4! This term kicks off with D&T week. The children are really excited about designing, creating and evaluating their own Rainforest in a box. Please can you ensure that all children have bought in a box by Wednesday morning at the very latest .
Also this term, we have our class assembly on Thursday the 15th June. Time is still tbc but will be posted on the classroom door by Friday 9th June. Below you will find the script and the songs. Please encourage the children to learn their lines and all the words to the songs...not just the chorus! We will of course be practicing in school but the more practice the children have the more confident they will be on stage.
Further into the term is the highlight - our trip to Cadbury's world! The children are very excited and I will be posting more information about this visit shortly.
It's half term already!
What a short term it has been - it's whizzed past! We have crammed so much into it too. Below are some pictures of what we have been up to, including our trip to Richard III museum, valentines disco and some of our art lessons.
During Maths this term, we have been concentrating on adding and subtracting using the bar model and formal column method. Instead of homework, I would like children to visit the website linked below and complete some of the bar models. Then on paper write out the equation in column method.
For English we have focused on King Arthur legends. We are creating a book for next years year 3's and so the English homework is to write a Legend to be included in it. Look at the picture below to remind you what needs to be included!
I hope everyone has a fabulous holiday and look forward to seeing you all next term. Don't forget your PE kits and swimming lessons next term will be on Thursdays for which you need a towel and swimsuit.
Sorry I didn't update the website last week - I was very poorly at the beginning of the week but all the children were lovely when I returned and have been working very hard to be the best they can be this week. Also, I would like to say a huge thank you to Kuba's Mum for the amazing christmas decorations she made, they look great!
I have had a few request for homework. This has been handed out either stuck in homework books if children have returned their last piece or as a single sheet. Just incase any have gone missing I have uploaded the homeworks onto the page below.
Next week, we have got lots of fun activities planned but it is important that the children still understand the expectations in school and arrive on time! On Monday afternoon, we have our "Good to be Good" party which will consist of singing in the hall followed by games and biscuit decorating in the classroom. Thursday afternoon is the Year 3 and 4 party which should be lots of fun and then on Friday morning we are walking to the church for our carol concert.
I look forward to seeing you all again next week!
Remember to include the apostrophe for contraction!
Yet another week has almost past, so it is time for an update on our activities.
This week we have been exploring a wider range of punctuation (including apostrophes for possession, speech marks and brackets), digital clocks, how the company we keep can influence our decisions and of course Rememberance Day, for which we made our own poppies to wear on the 11th. Excitingly, we also held our party for collecting 2225 dojo points as a class - Thankyou parents for all the food you sent in!
It was lovely to see so many of you at parents evening, I hope it was informative to you and look forward to seeing you again. Please do not feel you have to wait until parents evening to see me, I am more than happy to meet with parents before or after school, just make an appointment through the office.
Have a lovely weekend!
Miss Stock :)
P.S. Please find the homework below.
We have had a very eventful week this week with both Halloween and Firework Night art afternoons! We learnt about the origins of Halloween before making creepy pictures and also about firework safety before creating firework scenes.
In Maths we have been learning how to read the time on an analogue clock and all the children have really embraced this topic which has meant they have progressed quickly with it!
English this week started with finishing our adaptations of Animal War and we have now moved on to our book study which is Into the Wood by Anthony Browne (please do not rush out to the library for this book as we are trying to get the children predicting what will happen next!).
I look forward to seeing you all at Parents Evening next Thursday (17th). Please call the office if you are yet to recieve an appointment.
Have a lovely weekend!
P.S. Homework due on the 7th. I have put next weeks homework below for those of you who want a head start!
27th October 2016
We have had another great week in class!
The children have been learning a story related to Black History Week to present to the school all week - we presented it today and they were fantastic. A special shout out to Sanaa and Chaydon-Lee who have both impressed with their willingness to learn the story and the actions!
We have also revisited our place value knowledge and addition and subtraction strategies. Please keep practicing these at home.
Next week we shall be investigating how to tell the time and roman numerals in Maths and innovating Animal War into our own stories. We shall also be starting new shared and guided reading projects!
Please find this weeks homework below. It shall be sent out in homework books on Monday. A big thankyou to all the adults who helped make bead strings over the holidays, they will really benefit the children's math work this year.
Lastly, the Halloween disco is on Monday from 4pm until 5pm. Children are allowed to dress up AFTER school but please don't send your children to school already in fancy dress. We are not admitting anyone dressed as a clown. Tickets are available from reception for £1.50! We look forward to seeing you there.
Have a lovely weekend,
We have been asked to collect in the Project X reading books for a short while to see which we need to re-order. Please ensure your child is still reading at home - this can be books you have at home, newspapers, even menus and sign posts!
