Fosse Primary School
Together Everyone Achieves More
Dear Parents, Carers & Pupils,
Welcome to another year at Fosse Primary School.
Thank you very much for showing an interest in our school and welcome to our website. We hope that you will find the information that we provide here useful. However, if there is something that we have omitted then please contact us and let us know; we want to make the site as useful as possible to our community.
I became Headteacher of Fosse in April 2009 and am proud to lead such a vibrant learning community. Our latest Ofsted Report from last February 2013 shows how much the school has improved over the last four years. The staff work extremely hard on behalf of our children ensuring that children leave Fosse ready for the challenges of Secondary school. We have high expectations for everyone at Fosse and, as an ethnically diverse school with around thirty languages spoken by our families, offer a curriculum which supports all children according to their need, regardless of their age, gender, disability, religion, belief, race or socio-economic background.
We are also pleased to offer an increasing range of after school clubs; we have a breakfast club before school and offer holiday clubs during the Easter and summer holidays.
We returned to normal governance last year following a period of time supported by an Interim Executive Board and a 'Shadow Governing Body'; we are pleased to have governors with a vast amount of experience of primary education as well as others who work in the business and financial sectors. They support and challenge the school extremely well.
Although we focus primarily on the academic education of our pupils, (and are proud to inform you that in 2006 we had children reaching Level 6 for the first time) we look carefully at the whole child. We aim to create an ever more inclusive school where all children are valued and supported according to their needs. In October 2011 we opened 'The Island' a morning group for children in Years 3 and 4 who benefitted from working in a much smaller group; this provision has continued to support children from Year 1 to Year 4 to develop in confidence in order to access the wider curriculum more successfully. This year we will be employing a part-time Family Support Worker to support families who may be experiencing difficulties.
I hope this gives you a small insight into how we work at Fosse Primary School. I am extremely proud of the way that staff, children and parents are working so hard together to ensure that we continue to improve. If you are a prospective parent please come to the school to have a look round and have a chat - I think you will find us to be a friendly and welcoming school. In a survey in June 2012, 100% of parents said they feel welcome in the school. Working closely with families will help us to do the very best we can for every child that comes to Fosse.
