Fosse Primary School
Together Everyone Achieves More
Dear Parents, Carers & Pupils,
Thank you very much for showing an interest in Fosse Primary School and welcome to our website. We hope that you will find the information that we provide here useful. However, if there is something that we have omitted then please contact us and let us know; we want to make the site as useful as possible to our community.
I became Headteacher of Fosse in April 2009 and am proud to lead such a vibrant learning community. Our latest Ofsted Report from last February shows how much the school has improved over the last four years. The staff work extremely hard on behalf of our children ensuring that children leave Fosse ready for the challenges of Secondary school. We have high expectations for everyone at Fosse and, as an ethnically diverse school with around thirty languages spoken by our families, offer a curriculum which supports all children according to their need, regardless of their age, gender, disability, religion, belief, race or socio-economic background.
We are also pleased to offer an increasing range of after school clubs; we have a breakfast club before school and offer holiday clubs during the Easter and summer holidays.
We are returning to 'normal' governance this term following a period of time supported by an Interim Executive Board and a 'Shadow Governing Body'
Although we focus primarily on the academic education of our pupils (and are proud to inform you that we had children reaching Level 6 last year for the first time) we look carefully at the whole child. We aim to create an ever more inclusive school where all children are valued and supported according to their needs. In October 2011 we opened 'The Island' a morning group for children in Years 3 and 4 who benefit from working in a much smaller group. This will continue to operate this year supporting children in years 3, 4 in the mornings and younger children in the afternoons. We are also hoping to extend parental involvement and develop community education within the school - making strong links with parents and carers is an essential part of our role.
I hope this gives you a small insight into how we work at Fosse Primary School. I am extremely proud of the way that staff, children and parents are working so hard together to ensure that we continue to improve. If you are a prospective parent please come to the school to have a look round and have a chat - I think you will find us to be a friendly and welcoming school. In a survey in June 2012, 100% of parents said they feel welcome in the school. Working closely with families will help us to do the very best we can for every child that comes to Fosse.
