6AT

This week has been DT week at school. We have been looking at African masks, learning about their origins as well as other artists they inspired. Then we designed our very own mask and made it out of clay. Here is what we have made...

Kingswood 2017 - having a brilliant time :-)

This week we have been creating our own Anderson shelters as part of our World War II unit of work. Here are some photos of the children, working collaboratively, to produce some excellent shelters as well as their completed ones.
SATs Information Meeting

On Thursday 23rd February, at 3:30pm, we will be having a SATs Information Meeting for Y6 parents. We will be: sharing what your children will be doing in May; giving you the opportunity to look at some papers so that you are aware of the sorts of challenges that the children will have to tackle; as well as share some examples of writing that is at the expected standard and above. This will also be an opportunity for parents to ask their teachers any questions or queries that they have. We hope to see you there!

Anti-bullying

This week we have been thinking about what bullying is and what we can do about bullying.

We have been reminding the children about the two acronyms associated with bullying - STOP.

Start Telling Other People

Several Times On Purpose

We then created posters with the dual purpose of explaining what bullying is and what we can do about it!

CGP Revision Books

To support the children in the lead up to SATs, we are selling a set of CGP revision books (including answers) for £11.50. If you have not done so already, we would highly recommend that you buy these as they are an exellent way for you to support your children and they are in line with National Curriculum for Year 6.

From now on the children can use these instead of doing the homework that we send home. Please sign the homework so that we know that this is what the children have done.

Below is this weeks homework for Year 6. Homework is due in on Thursday. We will be testing the children on their spellings so please help your children to learn these.

Together Everyone Achieves More

This week we have been learning about our solar system: the order of the planets, distances from the sun and relative size. The children were set a challenge to produce an informative poster and present it to the class, as part of a group. Here they are working hard and showing off their work!

Times Tables:

We will again be having a Times Tables race across Key Stage 2.

Please help your children to practise and learn their times tables.

Not only will it help them with their learning in maths, but if the class

come first in the race we are allowed a special prize which the

children will choose!
