Stay Safe Ambassadors

On Thursday 8th February, Year 6 were visited by the Stay Safe Ambassadors, from De Montfort University.  They showed us essential first aid and safety skills, and we all had a go at bandaging, wrapping burns, and found out about the recovery position.  It was quite good fun too!

Newarke Houses Museum

On Thursday 1st February, we visited the wonderful Newarke Houses Museum in Leicester, as part of our World War II Topic.  As you can see from the pictures, we all had a great time, and found out so much about the two World Wars, as well as the part played by the people of Leicester in these crucial events.  We also learned about many aspects of the history of Leicester...and some of us really enjoyed trying on some "interesting" outfits!

CGP SATs Practice Books

Lots of the Y6 pupils have already bought the CGP SATs Practice books, and so far they have really enjoyed the work...even thought there is a lot of it!  We have found in previous years that these books to help the children to develop some of the essential skills in the build up to the SATs tests in May.  If you would like to by a set of the books, please contact the school office.

Spring Term Homework!!

Our new Homework grid was sent out on Friday 19th January.  We would like the children to complete one piece of homework per fortnight, and hand their books in by Wednesday 21st March.  Last term's homeworks were super...and the children have earned themselves a lot of smileys. Keep up the great work this term!

Historical Art work!

In Year 6 we have been working on designs for some very fancy new suits of armour for King Henry VIII...

Year 6 Homework

This year, our homework arrangements have changed.  We still expect everyone to read at home, and of course practise your times tables.  There will also be spellings to learn and practise every week, and there will be spelling tests to check that we are developing this important skill.

As well as this, we now have a "Homework Menu", which has been stuck in the front of everybody's Homework Book.  We would like children to complete at least one piece of work from the menu every two weeks, though you can complete more if you want to.  Remember, homework should always be completed to the highest possible standard - you really must take care over the presentation of your homework...KEEP IT NEAT PLEASE!!!
