Welcome to Class 5K 

 

Information 

The school day begins at 8.45 am and ends at 3.15 pm

PE is on Mondays and Fridays

please make sure that your child has a named PE kit in school on these days. The kit should include a shirt, shorts and a change of shoes.

Water bottles

Please make sure that your child has a water bottle in school every day. The disposable ones are best, as they can be refilled easily and are cheap to replace. 

Homework

Formal pieces of homework is given out on a Friday and is expected back on a Wednesday.

Children are expected to practise their spellings, times tables and  handwriting every day. They are also expected to read their book or other reading materials that they enjoy.

 

Maths  Spring 1 

children will continue to practise multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000

1700 / 100  =        3,400 / 10     204,000 / 1000

They will then learn about perimeter and area , solving problems in context.

Fractions is a huge area for year 5  - children will further develop understanding of what a fraction is, equivalence, addition , subtraction and multiplication of fractions.
