Each Friday your child will be sent homework to complete. The hand in date is the following Wednesday. Place your child's folder in the Homework Box in the classroom.
Targets
We have also sent home our Year 1 targets in your child's homework file. Work on these with your child to help them achieve their targets.
A copy of the targets are below.
COMPUTING
We are really enjoying learning about Coding with the Hour of Code website.
Click on the links below to help Moana or to build in Minecraft.
Which lesson can you get up to?
Our next topic will be based on the story of The Three Little Pigs.
We will be investigation which materials are best for building houses and designing our own buildings.
In History we will be looking at different houses through time and in Geography will look at the different types of housing near school.
In English we will be learning to retell the story of the Three Little Pigs with actions and enthusiasm!
We will be writing the story and descriptive sentences about different houses.
As always, we will be focussing on using:
PHONICS
In phonics we are working hard to learn phase 5 phonemes. Open the Phase 5 phoneme mat (link below), choose a phoneme and see if you can think of a word that has the phoneme in it.
Have a go at reading the words in the power point (link below) with phase 5 phonemes in. Warning! Some words are crazy alien words!
Mathematics
In Maths we will be learning about using money.
Show your child some different coins. Ask them how much each coin is worth. Let them pay for low cost items in a shop or play shops at home.
What coins are these?
How many pennies make up each coin?

We have been learning number bonds to 5 and 10. Please help your child to learn them.
We are learning subtraction facts too. For example (in red)...
0 + 5 = 5 5-5=0 0 + 10 = 10 10-10=0
1 + 4 = 5 5-4=1 1 + 9 = 10 10-9=1
2 + 3 = 5 5-3=2 2 + 8 = 10 10-8=2
3 + 2 = 5 5-2=3 3 + 7 = 10 10-7=3
4 + 1 = 5 5-1=4 4 + 6 = 10 10-6=4
5 + 0 = 5 5-0=5 5 + 5 = 10 10-5=5
6+ 4 = 10 10-4=6
7 + 3 = 10 10-3=7
8 + 2 = 10 10-2=8
9 + 1 = 10 10-1=9
10 + 0 = 10 10-0=10
